This course will cover operational theory,
disassembly and assembly, proper use of hand
tools and precision measuring instruments, and
an introduction to basic bench work of the
gunsmithing trade. Consideration will be given
to minor gun repair and the installation of
firearm accessories. A brief study of Federal
Firearm Law and record keeping will be included |

Scrimshaw
Learn the Art of Scrimshaw one-on-one with Jim
Stevens. You do not need and interest in
gunsmithing to take this course. The

wanting to learn how to create beautiful

Metalsmithing Single Shot Rifles 1
This will be atwo week long hands on course on
Metalsmithing the falling block rifle. The
emphasis will be on high quality workmanship and
the accurate single shot rifle. The
student will be led through the process of
properly preparing and barreling their own
single shot action. Class will cover the various
US and British single shot action design of the
lat 19th century up through WWI. Class
room instruction will cover the various action
design, simple and set trigger designs, chamber
and extractor/ejector designs, and basic
metallurgy and heat treating theory.
Prerequisites: Mill, lathe and hand tool
experience, or consent of instructor.

Benchrest Stocking and Stock Design
This course will describe and demonstrate the
modern methods of stocking today's state of the
art match rifles. The class will also
learn the current design technology used in
single and multi-purpose rifle stock lay out &
geometry. The lab work will consist of
inletting, pillar bedding using G-10 pillars or
the modern glue-in methods. The design and
machining of aluminum bedding blocks.
Students are encouraged to bring a semi or
no-inlet laminate or composite stock and
barreled action to inlet and bed. |

Resetting sprung ribs and tightening loose

Making & Precision Reloading

principals of bullet swaging, the proper use of
"neck turning" equipment and case preparation.

Down Lever Guns
David Clay of DRC Custom guns walks you through
the building of a take down Marlin Lever Action.
The class will learn all the processes required
to convert a standard Marlin to a custom field
ready take down employing the patented DRC
system that allows one to take down the rifle
and leave the magazine fully loaded.

National Match AR-15's

While the emphasis will be on rifles for "Across
the Course" shooting, most of the methods apply

The class will cover topics of choosing a blank,
making a pattern stock, inletting, shaping, and
finishing of machined wood. Drilling
of through-bold holes and breech screws will
also be covered. The majority of class time will
be hands-on inletting and shaping.
Students should bring their own projects to work
on, they are encouraged to contact instructor
about which projects to bring and for tools
necessary to complete the work. Please note tat
we will not be concentrating on building a
bolt-action rifle stock from a blank. |

Pneumatic Airgunsmithing
The class will start with an introduction to the
various airgun systems. Then the focus of
the class will be the proper disassembly and
assembly of the various makes and models of
pneumatic airguns. The major manufacturers
being covered are Crosman, Benjamin, Sheridan,
Dairy, Beeman, Marksman, Webley and Gamo will be
covered. Additionally the inspection and
repair of the parts will be covered, then the
necessary function and safety checks after
assembly to ensure proper and safe operation.

any Remington 700 PSS or heavy barreled 700 for

Brownells 1911 Handguns
The 1911 is the "Army" .45 caliber,
semiautomatic pistol developed by John Browning.
This class will address the general fit and
function of the 1911. More advanced
techniques will also be covered such as slide
tightening, fitting oversized bushings, new
